Chapter 344 - Greatness of Jaradgaveśvara (Jaradgava-īśvara)

Īśvara said:

1. Thereafter, O great goddess, one should go to the great sin-destroying Liṅga situated to the north of northeastern direction.

2. It is called Jaradgaveśvara as it is installed by sage Jaradgava. There is no doubt that it is the destroyer of sins like killing of a Brāhmaṇa etc.

3. O goddess, there is the divine river Aṃśumatī. After taking a bath therein, one should offer Piṇḍas as per procedure.

4. It brings satisfaction unto the Pitṛs for a period of more than ten million years. A bull should be given to a Brāhmaṇa expert in the Vedas.

5-6. Thereafter, one should worship god Jaraḍgava with Pañcāmṛta (mixture of milk, sour milk, butter, honey and sugar), flowers as well as guggula-fumigation, with eulogy, prostrations and circumambulations day and night.

One should feed Brāhmaṇas there, with various eatables and delicacies. By feeding one, (the merit) becomes ten-million-fold.

7. That Tīrtha was known as Siddhodaka in Kṛta Age. In Kali Age it is glorified as Jaradgaveśvara.
