Chapter 15 - Origin of Pāpanāśana

Īśvara said:

1-3. To the south-east thereof, O goddess of Devas, there is the Liṅga installed by Aruṇa, the charioteer of Sūrya. It is very near the Siddhaliṅga, say three Dhanus (12 Hastas) away. It dispels the sins in Kali Age by mere vision. It’s name is Pāpanāśana.

A person should worship it duly with great faith and devotion, O lady of excellent countenance, on the thirteenth lunar day in the bright half of the month of Caitra. He shall obtain the fruit of the Pauṇḍarīka Yajña.
