Chapter 147 - Mode of worshipping the goddess Tvaritā and others

The Lord said:

1-2. Oṃ Guhyakubjikā (Goddess Kubjikā of secret powers)! Huṃ phaṭ. You destroy and destroy all my miseries and also whatever incantations of the form of yantra (written on a plate), mantra (repetition of some syllables), tantra (use of mystic syllables) and cūrṇa (powders) done or made to do by some one, or being done, or would be done or would be made to do. O One possessing frightening teeth! Hraiṃ hrīṃ huṃ oblations to Guhyakubjikā. Hrauṃ oṃ khe voṃ obeisance to Guhyakubjikā. Hrīṃ. One who subjugates all people! One who attracts the people! Oṃ kheṃ khyaṃ. One who attracts all people be the stupefier of the people. Oṃ khyauṃ. One who paralyses all people! aiṃ khaṃ khrāṃ. Agitator. Aiṃ the basic syllable comprising the three principles, that which is excellent in the kula (system). The five-syllabled mantra. Phaṃ śrīṃ kṣīṃ śrīṃ hrīṃ kṣeṃ O Jacchā! kṣe kṣe hrūṃ phaṭ hrīṃ obeisance. Oṃ hrāṃ kṣe Vaccā kṣe kṣo hrīṃ phaṭ. Thus the tvaritā mantras are of nine kinds. They must be known and they confer victory if propitiated.

3. The seat should be (offered) with (the mantra) hrauṃ to the lioness. (The mantra) hrīṃ kṣe is said to be the heart. Vacchā! Oblations to the head. This (mantra) of Tvaritā is remembered in the tuft.

4. Kṣeṃ hrīṃ vauṣaṭ be (the mantra) for the tuft. Kṣeṃ huṃ would be for the armour. Hrūṃ vauṣaṭ (be) for the three eyes ending with hrīṃ and phaṭ.

5. (The names of) the nine (goddesses of) energy (are) Hrīṃkārī, Khecarī, Caṇḍā, Chedanī, Kṣobhaṇī, Kriyā, Kṣemakārī, Hrīṃkārī and Phaṭkārī.

6-8. Now, I shall describe the envoys (companions) of the goddess Tvaritā), to be worshipped in the directions east and others. Hrīṃ Nalā! possessing thick lips and who moves in the sky. Hrīṃ Khecarā (one whose region of movement is the sky)! Embodied as glowing flames! Burn, kha khe cha che. Frightening like the dead body! Ca che O Caṇḍā (fierce)! Chedanī (one who breaks)! Karāli (dreadful)! kha khe che khe. One whose physical constituents are (the letters) kha, ra and ha. Hrīṃ kṣe va kṣe O Kapilā (tawny-coloured)! Ha kṣe hrūṃ kuṃ Jejovati (resplendant)! Raudri (one in rage)! O Mother! Hrīṃ uhe ve phe phe Vakrā (crooked one)! Vari phe puṭi puṭi ghore (frightening one)! Hrūṃ phaṭ Brahmavetāli! Middle one! I shall again describe the secret mantras and principles relating to (the goddess) Tvaritā. Hraiṃ hraṃ haḥ are said to be (located) at the heart. Haruṃ [Hrauṃ?] and ha are remembered to be (for) the head. Phāṃ sparkle sparkle (is for) the tuft. Vara ilā hraṃ huṃ kroṃ kṣūṃ śrīṃ is said (to be for) the eye. Kṣauṃ (is) for the weapon. Or (the mantras) phaṭ huṃ khe vacche kṣeḥ hrīṃ kṣeṃ huṃ phaṭ (is said) then. O Huṃ for the head must be in the middle. Khe at the beginning. O Sadāśivā (ever benevolent one). Va (for) Īśaḥ, che (for) Manonmanī, ma and kṣe (for) the Garuḍa, hrauṃ for Mādhava, kṣeṃ (for) Brahmā, huṃ (for) Āditya. The (mantra) phaṭ hrauṃ is always remembered as cruel.
