Verse 2.10-11
Sanskrit text and transliteration:
त्याग एव हि सर्वेषां मोक्षसाधनमुत्तमम् ।
त्यजतैव हि तज्ज्ञेयं त्यक्तुः प्रत्यक्परं पदम् ॥ १० ॥
त्यज धर्ममधर्मं च तथा सत्यानृते अपि ।
न्यासो ब्रह्मेति च प्राह तैत्तिरीयश्रुतिस्तथा ॥ ११ ॥
tyāga eva hi sarveṣāṃ mokṣasādhanamuttamam |
tyajataiva hi tajjñeyaṃ tyaktuḥ pratyakparaṃ padam || 10 ||
tyaja dharmamadharmaṃ ca tathā satyānṛte api |
nyāso brahmeti ca prāha taittirīyaśrutistathā || 11 ||
English translation of verse 2.10-11:
Renunciation alone is, verily, the best of all the means to liberation. Only by a person who has renounced all, that (Brahman) can be known. A person who renounces attains the Self, the supreme abode. (Smṛti says): “Renounce dharma as well as adharma, and likewise the true and the false.” In the same way, the Taittirīya-śruti also says: “Renunciation is Brahman.”
