तस्मात्सत्त्वविशुद्ध्यर्थं कार्यं कर्म मुमुक्षुभिः ।
प्रागेव ब्रह्मविज्ञानान्नियमेनेति ह श्रुतिः ॥ १६४ ॥

tasmātsattvaviśuddhyarthaṃ kāryaṃ karma mumukṣubhiḥ |
prāgeva brahmavijñānānniyameneti ha śrutiḥ || 164 ||

English translation of verse 1.164:

Hence, śruti, indeed, says that, only prior to Brahmanknowledge, karma must be performed by spiritual aspirants for the sake of purification of the mind.
