The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.9.24; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

शुचित्वौज्ज्वल्य-वैदिग्ध्यात् सुवेशत्वाच् च कथ्यते ।
शृङ्गारस्य विभावत्वम् अन्यत्राभासता ततः ॥४.९.२४॥

śucitvaujjvalya-vaidigdhyāt suveśatvāc ca kathyate |
śṛṅgārasya vibhāvatvam anyatrābhāsatā tataḥ
||4.9.24||

English translation

“It is said that proper conditions for madhura-rasa arise from purity, appropriate form and species, cleverness in love and good dress. Any lack of these qualities in the ālambana creates ābhāsa in the vibhāva of madhura- rasa.”
