The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.9.11; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ वत्सलोपरसः —
सामर्थ्याधिक्याभिज्ञानाल् लालनाद्य्-अप्रयत्नतः ।
करुणस्यातिरेकादेस् तुर्याश् चोपरसो भवेत् ॥४.९.११॥

atha vatsaloparasaḥ —
sāmarthyādhikyābhijñānāl lālanādy-aprayatnataḥ |
karuṇasyātirekādes turyāś coparaso bhavet
||4.9.11||

English translation

Vatsaloparasa arises from recognizing too much power in the Lord, from making no effort to care for the Lord affectionately as a child, and from excessive suffering.”
