The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.8.74; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

विषयाश्रय-भेदे’पि मुख्येन द्विषता सह ।
सङ्गतिः किल मुख्यस्य वैरस्यायैव जायते ॥४.८.७४॥

viṣayāśraya-bhede’pi mukhyena dviṣatā saha |
saṅgatiḥ kila mukhyasya vairasyāyaiva jāyate
||4.8.74||

English translation

“Even if the viṣayas or āśrayas are different, if the conflicting rasas are both primary rasas, the result will be distasteful.”
