The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.8.46; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

प्रोद्यन् विभावनोत्कर्षात् पुष्टिं मुख्येन लम्भितः ।
कुञ्चता निज-नाथेन गौणो’प्य् अङ्गित्वम् अश्नुते ॥४.८.४६॥

prodyan vibhāvanotkarṣāt puṣṭiṃ mukhyena lambhitaḥ |
kuñcatā nija-nāthena gauṇo’py aṅgitvam aśnute
||4.8.46||

English translation

“But a secondary rasa that becomes prominent because of strong stimulus and is nourished by the primary rasa, which then recedes in strength, becomes the predominating rasa (aṅgī).”
