The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.8.36; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ गौणानाम् अङ्गिता —
हास्यादीनां तु गौणानां यद्-उदाहरणं कृतम् ।
तेनैषाम् अङ्गिता व्यक्ता मुख्यानां च तथाङ्गता ।
तथाप्य् अल्प-विशेषाय किञ्चिद् एव विलिख्यते ॥४.८.३६॥

atha gauṇānām aṅgitā —
hāsyādīnāṃ tu gauṇānāṃ yad-udāharaṇaṃ kṛtam |
tenaiṣām aṅgitā vyaktā mukhyānāṃ ca tathāṅgatā |
tathāpy alpa-viśeṣāya kiñcid eva vilikhyate
||4.8.36||

English translation

“Examples will now be given to show the secondary rasa as the aṅgī and the primary rasas as the aṅga. They will be described a little to show their distinguishing properties.”
