The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.8.32; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

केवले वत्सले नास्ति मुख्यस्य खलु सौहृदम् ।
अतो’त्र वत्सले तस्य नतरां लिखिताङ्गता ॥४.८.३२॥

kevale vatsale nāsti mukhyasya khalu sauhṛdam |
ato’tra vatsale tasya natarāṃ likhitāṅgatā
||4.8.32||

English translation

“In pure vatsala-rasa, there is no friendship with other primary rasas. Primary rasas have not been described as aṅgas for vatsala-rasa as aṅgī for this reason.”
