The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.8.19; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथाङ्गित्वं प्रथमतो मुख्यानाम् इह लिख्यते ।
अङ्गतां यत्र सुहृदो मुख्या गौणाश् च बिभ्रति ॥४.८.१९॥

athāṅgitvaṃ prathamato mukhyānām iha likhyate |
aṅgatāṃ yatra suhṛdo mukhyā gauṇāś ca bibhrati
||4.8.19||

English translation

“In this work, first the primary rasas starting with śānta-rasa will be taken as the predominant rasa (aṅgī). In such cases, the friendly primary and secondary rasas become the subordinate rasas (aṅgas).”
