The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.8.17; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

द्वयोस् तु मिश्रणे साम्यं दुःशकं स्यात् तुला-धृतम् ।
तस्माद् अङ्गाङ्गि-भावेन मेलनं विदुषां मतम् ॥४.८.१७॥

dvayos tu miśraṇe sāmyaṃ duḥśakaṃ syāt tulā-dhṛtam |
tasmād aṅgāṅgi-bhāvena melanaṃ viduṣāṃ matam
||4.8.17||

English translation

“When two rasas mix, they cannot be experienced equally. Thus, the wise have said that in any mixture there is a predominant rasa (aṅgī) and subsidiary rasas (aṅgas).”
