The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.7.13; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

हास्यादीनां रसत्वं यद् गौणत्वेनापि कीर्तितम् ।
प्राचां मतानुसारेण तद् विज्ञेयं मनीषिभिः ॥४.७.१३॥

hāsyādīnāṃ rasatvaṃ yad gauṇatvenāpi kīrtitam |
prācāṃ matānusāreṇa tad vijñeyaṃ manīṣibhiḥ
||4.7.13||

English translation

“That the ratis starting with hāsya are accepted as secondary rasas is understood by the wise to be according to the opinions of ancient scholars such as Bharata Muni.”
