The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.6.14; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

तज्-जा भीर् नापरत्र स्याद् अनुग्राह्य-जनान् विना ।
आकृत्या ये प्रकृत्या ये ये प्रभावेण भीषणाः ॥४.६.१३॥
एतद्-आलम्बना भीतिः केवल-प्रेम-शालिषु ।
नारी-बालादिषु तथा प्रायेणात्रोपजायते ॥४.६.१४॥

taj-jā bhīr nāparatra syād anugrāhya-janān vinā |
ākṛtyā ye prakṛtyā ye ye prabhāveṇa bhīṣaṇāḥ
||4.6.13||
etad-ālambanā bhītiḥ kevala-prema-śāliṣu |
nārī-bālādiṣu tathā prāyeṇātropajāyate
||4.6.14||

English translation

“This bhaya-rati or fear does not appear in any persons except the devotees. Fear arising from the fearful forms, qualities and powers generally arises in women and small children out of pure prema for Kṛṣṇa.”
