The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.6.12; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अस्मिन् भग्न-रतिः स्थायी भावः स्याद् अपराधतः ।
भीषणेभ्यश् च तत्र स्याद् बहुधैवापराधिता ॥४.६.१२॥

asmin bhagna-ratiḥ sthāyī bhāvaḥ syād aparādhataḥ |
bhīṣaṇebhyaś ca tatra syād bahudhaivāparādhitā
||4.6.12||

English translation

“The sthāyī-bhāva of bhayānaka-rasa is bhaya-rati, which arises from offenses and fearful persons. There are many types of offenses.”
