The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.6.1; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

वक्ष्यमाणैर् विभावाद्यैः पुष्टिं भय-रतिर् गता ।
भयानकाभिधो भक्ति-रसो धीरैर् उदीर्यते ॥४.६.१॥

vakṣyamāṇair vibhāvādyaiḥ puṣṭiṃ bhaya-ratir gatā |
bhayānakābhidho bhakti-raso dhīrair udīryate
||4.6.1||

English translation

“The wise say that when bhaya-rati is nourished by the vibhāvas and other elements [of rasa] it becomes bhanāyaka-bhakti-rasa.
