The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.3.51; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा —
वन्दे कुट्मलिताञ्जलिर् मुहुर् अहं वीरं मयूर-ध्वजं
येनार्धं कपट-द्विजाय वपुषः कंस-द्विषे दित्सता ।
कष्टं गद्गदिकाकुलो’स्मि कथनारम्भाद् अहो धीमता
सोल्लासं क्रकचेन दारितम् अभूत् पत्नी-सुताभ्यां शिवः ॥४.३.५१॥

yathā —
vande kuṭmalitāñjalir muhur ahaṃ vīraṃ mayūra-dhvajaṃ
yenārdhaṃ kapaṭa-dvijāya vapuṣaḥ kaṃsa-dviṣe ditsatā |
kaṣṭaṃ gadgadikākulo’smi kathanārambhād aho dhīmatā
sollāsaṃ krakacena dāritam abhūt patnī-sutābhyāṃ śivaḥ

English translation

An example:
“I offer my respects with folded hands to Mayūradhvaja. Alas! Desiring to offer half of his body to Kṛṣṇa disguised as a brāhmaṇa, he ordered his wife and son to cleave his head with a saw. Oh! In telling this tale, my voice chokes up.”
