The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.4.79; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

किं च —
अप्रतीतौ हरि-रतेः प्रीतस्य स्याद् अपुष्टता ।
प्रेयसस् तु तिरोभावो वत्सलय्सास्य न क्षतिः ॥३.४.७९॥

kiṃ ca —
apratītau hari-rateḥ prītasya syād apuṣṭatā |
preyasas tu tirobhāvo vatsalaysāsya na kṣatiḥ
||3.4.79||

English translation

Moreover:
“When a dāsya- or sakhya-bhakta cannot discern if the Lord has rati for himself, his prīti-rasa weakens and preyo-rasa disappears, but even if the vatsala-bhakta cannot discern the Lord’s rati, vatsala-rasa is not affected at all.”
