The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.4.63; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा वा —
याते राज-पुरं हरौ मुख-तटी व्याकीर्ण-धूम्रालका
पश्य स्रस्त-तनुः कठोर-लुठनैर् देहे व्रणं कुर्वती ।
क्षीणा गोष्ठ-मही-महेन्द्र-महिषी हा पुत्र पुत्रेत्य् असौ
क्रोशन्ती करयोर् युगेन कुरुते कष्टाद् उरस्-ताडनम् ॥३.४.६३॥

yathā vā —
yāte rāja-puraṃ harau mukha-taṭī vyākīrṇa-dhūmrālakā
paśya srasta-tanuḥ kaṭhora-luṭhanair dehe vraṇaṃ kurvatī |
kṣīṇā goṣṭha-mahī-mahendra-mahiṣīputra putrety asau
krośantī karayor yugena kurute kaṣṭād uras-tāḍanam

English translation

Another example:
“Just see! Now that Kṛṣṇa has gone to Mathurā, thin Yaśodā, her face covered by scattered gray hair, injures her body by falling roughly on the ground. She shouts ‘O my son! O my son!’ and beats her chest with her two hands.”
