The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.4.54; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

tatra vātsalya-ratir, yathā śrī-daśame (10.6.43) —
nandaḥ sva-putram ādāya pretyāgatam udāra-dhīḥ |
mūrdhny upāghrāya paramāṃ mudaṃ lebhe kurūdvaha ||3.4.54||
Vatsala-rati, from the Tenth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam [10.6.43]:

“O Mahārāja Parīkṣit, best of the Kurus, Nanda Mahārāja was very liberal and simple. He immediately took his son Kṛṣṇa on his lap as if Kṛṣṇa had returned from death, and by formally smelling his son's head, Nanda Mahārāja undoubtedly enjoyed transcendental bliss.”
