The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.4.48; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.
Verse 3.4.48
stambhādayo, yathā —
katham api parirabdhuṃ na kṣamā stabdha-gātrī
kalayitum api nālaṃ bāṣpa-pura-plutākṣī |
na ca sutam upadeṣṭuṃ ruddha-kaṇṭhī samarthā
dadhatam acalam āsīd vyākulā gokuleśā ||3.4.48||
Stambha and other sāttvika-bhāvas:
“The disturbed queen of Gokula could not embrace Kṛṣṇa, the lifter of Govardhana, because her limbs were paralyzed. Nor could she gaze upon Him, because her eyes were filled with tears. Nor could she instruct Him, because her voice was choked up.”
