The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.3.127; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. मृतिः —
कंसारेर् विरह-ज्वरोर्मि-जनित-ज्वालावली-जर्जरा
गोपाः शैल-तटे तथा शिथिलित-श्वासाङ्कुराः शेरते ।
वारं वारम् अखर्व-लोचन-जलैर् आप्लाव्य तान् निश्चलान्
शोचन्त्य् अद्य यथा चिरं परिचय-स्निग्धाः कुरङ्गा अपि ॥३.३.१२७॥mṛtiḥ —
kaṃsārer viraha-jvarormi-janita-jvālāvalī-jarjarā
gopāḥ śaila-taṭe tathā śithilita-śvāsāṅkurāḥ śerate |
vāraṃ vāram akharva-locana-jalair āplāvya tān niścalān
śocanty adya yathā ciraṃ paricaya-snigdhāḥ kuraṅgā api ||3.3.127||
English translation
Death-like state:
“O enemy of Kaṃsa! Worn out with the pain arising from the waves of fever of separation, the cowherd boys have fallen down on the plateau of Govardhan and are breathing only slightly. Just as people lament with tears in their eyes when they see that an acquaintance has fallen into difficulty, today the deer lament for them, soaking their motionless bodies with their profuse tears.”
