The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.3.108; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

प्रणयः —
प्राप्तायां सम्भ्रमादीनां योग्यतायाम् अपि स्फुटम् ।
तद्-गन्धेनाप्य् असंस्पृष्टा रतिः प्रणय उच्यते ॥३.३.१०८॥

praṇayaḥ —
prāptāyāṃ sambhramādīnāṃ yogyatāyām api sphuṭam |
tad-gandhenāpy asaṃspṛṣṭā ratiḥ praṇaya ucyate
||3.3.108||

English translation

“When sakhya-rati is completely free of any touch of respect, even though there are clear opportunities to show respect, it is called praṇaya.”
