The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.3.101; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अश्रु, यथा —
दावं समीक्ष्य विचरन्तम् इषीक-तुलैस्
तस्य क्षयार्थम् इव बाष्प-झरं किरन्ती ।
स्वाम् अप्य् उपेक्ष्य तनुम् अम्बुज-माल-भारिण्य्
आभीर-वीथिर् अभितो हरिम् आवरिष्ट ॥३.३.१०१॥

aśru, yathā —
dāvaṃ samīkṣya vicarantam iṣīka-tulais
tasya kṣayārtham iva bāṣpa-jharaṃ kirantī |
svām apy upekṣya tanum ambuja-māla-bhāriṇy
ābhīra-vīthir abhito harim āvariṣṭa
||3.3.101||

English translation

Tears:
“Seeing the forest fire spread around through the cotton from the dry reeds, Kṛṣṇa’s friends, not considering their own bodies, surrounded Kṛṣṇa on all sides, appearing to extinguish the fire with the tears from their eyes.”
