The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.3.94; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

दूत्यं व्रज-किशोरीषु तासां प्रणय-गामिता ।
ताभिः केलि-कलौ साक्षात् सख्युः पक्ष-परिग्रहः ॥३.३.९३॥
असाक्षात् स्व-स्व-यूथेशा-पक्ष-स्थापन-चातुरी ।
कर्णाकर्णि-कथाद्याश् च प्रिय-नर्म-सख-क्रियाः ॥३.३.९४॥

dūtyaṃ vraja-kiśorīṣu tāsāṃ praṇaya-gāmitā |
tābhiḥ keli-kalau sākṣāt sakhyuḥ pakṣa-parigrahaḥ ||3.3.93||
asākṣāt sva-sva-yūtheśā-pakṣa-sthāpana-cāturī |
karṇākarṇi-kathādyāś ca priya-narma-sakha-kriyāḥ
||3.3.94||

English translation

“Carrying messages among the young women of Vraja, encouraging the gopīs love for Kṛṣṇa, taking Kṛṣṇa’s side with the gopīs when Kṛṣṇa is not present, showing skill at siding with the chief gopīs when Kṛṣṇa is present but the other gopīs are not, and arguing intensely by whispering in each others’ ears are the activities of the priya-narma-sakhas.”
