The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.3.42; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. सख्यं, यथा —
त्वं नः प्रोज्झ्य कठोर यामुन-तटे कस्माद् अकस्माद् गतो
दिष्ट्या दृष्टिम् इतो’सि हन्त निविडाश्लेषैः सखीन् प्रीणय ।
ब्रूमः सत्यम् अदर्शने तव मनाक् का धेनवः के वयं
किं गोष्ठं किम् अभीष्टम् इत्य् अचिरतः सर्वं विपर्यस्यति ॥३.३.४२॥sakhyaṃ, yathā —
tvaṃ naḥ projjhya kaṭhora yāmuna-taṭe kasmād akasmād gato
diṣṭyā dṛṣṭim ito’si hanta niviḍāśleṣaiḥ sakhīn prīṇaya |
brūmaḥ satyam adarśane tava manāk kā dhenavaḥ ke vayaṃ
kiṃ goṣṭhaṃ kim abhīṣṭam ity acirataḥ sarvaṃ viparyasyati ||3.3.42||
English translation
His friendship:
“You are so cruel! Why did You suddenly leave us at the bank of the Yamunā and go away? We are very fortunate to have seen You. Now, please us by giving us a strong embrace. Not seeing You for even a short time, the cows, ourselves, the cowsheds, and Your gopīs all fall into the worst misfortune.”
