The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.2.156; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ उद्दीपनाः —
उद्दीपनास् तु वात्सल्य-स्मित-प्रेक्षादयो हरेः ॥३.२.१५६॥

atha uddīpanāḥ —
uddīpanās tu vātsalya-smita-prekṣādayo hareḥ ||3.2.156||

English translation

“The uddīpanas for gaurava-prīti-bhaktas are such things as the Lord’s glance mixed with affection and smiling.”
