The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.2.118; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

तत्र तापो, यथा —
अस्मान् दुनोति कमलं तपनस्य मित्रं
रत्नाकरश् च बडवानल-गूढ-मूर्तिः ।
इन्दीवरं विधु-सुहृत् कथम् ईश्वरं वा
तं स्मारयन् मुनिपते दहतीह सभ्यान् ॥३.२.११८॥tatra tāpo, yathā —
asmān dunoti kamalaṃ tapanasya mitraṃ
ratnākaraś ca baḍavānala-gūḍha-mūrtiḥ |
indīvaraṃ vidhu-suhṛt katham īśvaraṃ vā
taṃ smārayan munipate dahatīha sabhyān ||3.2.118||
English translation
An example of heat in viyoga:
“O best of sages! The lotus (though it reminds us of Your eyes) will give us pain because it is the friend of the sun, and the ocean (though it reminds us of Your complexion) gives us pain because it is dominated by the vāḍaba fire. But why does the blue lotus, friend of the moon, making us remember the Lord, also cause us burning pain?”
