The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.2.102; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. दैन्यं, यथा तत्रैव —
निबद्ध-मूर्धाञ्जलिर् एष याचे
नीरन्ध्र-दैन्योन्नति-मुक्त-कण्ठम् ।
दयाम्बुधे देव भवत्-कटाक्ष-
दाक्षिण्य-लेशेन सकृन् निषिञ्च ॥३.२.१०२॥dainyaṃ, yathā tatraiva —
nibaddha-mūrdhāñjalir eṣa yāce
nīrandhra-dainyonnati-mukta-kaṇṭham |
dayāmbudhe deva bhavat-kaṭākṣa-
dākṣiṇya-leśena sakṛn niṣiñca ||3.2.102||
English translation
An example of dainyam (lowness) in utkaṇṭhitam:
“O Lord! O ocean of mercy! With my hand folded over my head, I am praying in a humble mood with crying voice that You should sprinkle me with a particle of Your generous glance.”
