The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.2.28; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा वा पद्यावल्याम् (७७) —
ध्यानातीतं किम् अपि परमं ये तु जानन्ति तत्त्वं
तेषाम् आस्तां हृदय-कुहरे शुद्ध-चिन्मात्र आत्मा ।
अस्माकं तु प्रकृति-मधुरः स्मेर-वक्त्रारविन्दो
मेघ-श्यामः कनक-परिधिः पङ्कजाक्षो’यम् आत्मा ॥३.२.२८॥

yathā vā padyāvalyām (77) —
dhyānātītaṃ kim api paramaṃ ye tu jānanti tattvaṃ
teṣām āstāṃ hṛdaya-kuhare śuddha-cinmātra ātmā
|
asmākaṃ tu prakṛti-madhuraḥ smera-vaktrāravindo
megha-śyāmaḥ kanaka-paridhiḥ paṅkajākṣo’yam ātmā
||3.2.28||

English translation

Another example, from Padyāvalī:
“Let the ātmā of pure consciousness reside in the hearts of those who know the Supreme Truth beyond meditation. But may that ātmā with sweet nature, with lotus eyes, yellow cloth, complexion of a raincloud, and slightly smiling lotus face remain in our hearts.”
