The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.1.48; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

केवल-शान्तो’पि, श्री-विष्णु-धर्मोत्तरे यथा —
नास्ति यत्र सुखं दुःखं न द्वेषो न च मत्सरः ।
समः सर्वेषु भूतेषु स शान्तः प्रथितो रसः ॥३.१.४८॥

kevala-śānto’pi, śrī-viṣṇu-dharmottare yathā —
nāsti yatra sukhaṃ duḥkhaṃ na dveṣo na ca matsaraḥ |
samaḥ sarveṣu bhūteṣu sa śāntaḥ prathito rasaḥ ||3.1.48||

English translation

Pure śānta according to Viṣṇu-dharmottara:
“The condition in which there is no happiness, no suffering, no hatred, no envy, and equality shown to all beings is known as śānta-rasa.”
