The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 3.1.8; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

तत्र चतुर्भुजः —
श्यामाकृतिः स्फुरति चारु-चतुर्भुजो’यम्
आनन्द-राशिर् अखिलात्म-सिन्धु-तरङ्गः ।
यस्मिन् गते नयनयोः पथि निर्जिहीते
प्रत्यक्-पदात् परमहंस-मुनेर् मनो’पि ॥३.१.८॥

tatra caturbhujaḥ
śyāmākṛtiḥ sphurati cāru-caturbhujo’yam
ānanda-rāśir akhilātma-sindhu-taraṅgaḥ
|
yasmin gate nayanayoḥ pathi nirjihīte
pratyak-padāt paramahaṃsa-muner mano’pi
||3.1.8||

English translation

The four-armed form:
“The attractive four-armed form of the Lord, filled with bliss and dark blue in complexion, is an ocean in which the jīvas are the waves. If He is seen by the paramahaṃsa sages, their minds will leave the impersonal Brahman and become absorbed in all His qualities.”
