The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.116; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ गौणः —
हास्यो’द्भुतस् तथा वीरः करुणो रौद्र इत्य् अपि ।
भयानकः स बीभत्स इति गौणश् च सप्तधा ॥२.५.११६॥

atha gauṇaḥ —
hāsyo’dbhutas tathā vīraḥ karuṇo raudra ity api |
bhayānakaḥ sa bībhatsa iti gauṇaś ca saptadhā
||2.5.116||

English translation

Gauṇa-rasa (secondary rasa):
“There are seven secondary rasas: hāsya (humor), adbhuta (astonishment), vīra (enthuiasm), karuṇa (lamentation), raudra (anger), bhanāyaka (fear) and bībhatsa (disgust).”
