The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.54; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा —
मया दृग् अपि नार्पिता सुमुखि दध्नि तुभ्यं शपे
सखी तव निरर्गला तद् अपि मे मुखं जिघ्रति ।
प्रशाधि तद् इमां मुधा च्छलित-साधुम् इत्य् अच्युते
वदत्य् अजनि दूतिका हसित-रोधने न क्षमा ॥२.५.५४॥

yathā —
mayā dṛg api nārpitā sumukhi dadhni tubhyaṃ śape
sakhī tava nirargalā tad api me mukhaṃ jighrati |
praśādhi tad imāṃ mudhā cchalita-sādhum ity acyute
vadaty ajani dūtikā hasita-rodhane na kṣamā
||2.5.54||

English translation

An example:
“ ‘O beautiful woman! I swear to you that I have not even looked at the
yogurt. But your bold friend is sniffing My mouth in vain. Give instructions to your friend so that she does not accuse innocent persons like Me.’ When the gopī servant heard these words, she could not resist her laughter.”
