The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.47; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

विपक्षादिषु यान्तो’पि क्रोधाद्याः स्थायितां सदा ।
लभन्ते रति-शून्यत्वान् न भक्ति-रस-योग्यताम् ॥२.५.४७॥

vipakṣādiṣu yānto’pi krodhādyāḥ sthāyitāṃ sadā |
labhante rati-śūnyatvān na bhakti-rasa-yogyatām
||2.5.47||

English translation

“Though the secondary bhāvas become sthāyī-bhāvas in the enemies of Kṛṣṇa, they are not suitable for bhakti-rasa since they are without a primary rati (positive attraction for Kṛṣṇa).”
