The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.47; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. विपक्षादिषु यान्तो’पि क्रोधाद्याः स्थायितां सदा ।
लभन्ते रति-शून्यत्वान् न भक्ति-रस-योग्यताम् ॥२.५.४७॥vipakṣādiṣu yānto’pi krodhādyāḥ sthāyitāṃ sadā |
labhante rati-śūnyatvān na bhakti-rasa-yogyatām ||2.5.47||
English translation
“Though the secondary bhāvas become sthāyī-bhāvas in the enemies of Kṛṣṇa, they are not suitable for bhakti-rasa since they are without a primary rati (positive attraction for Kṛṣṇa).”
