The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.46; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. काप्य् अव्यभिचरन्ती सा स्वाधारान् स्व-स्वरूपतः ।
रतिर् आत्यन्तिक-स्थायी भावो भक्त-जने’ खिले ।
स्युर् एतस्या विना-भावाद् भावाः सर्वे निरर्थकाः ॥२.५.४६॥kāpy avyabhicarantī sā svādhārān sva-svarūpataḥ |
ratir ātyantika-sthāyī bhāvo bhakta-jane’ khile |
syur etasyā vinā-bhāvād bhāvāḥ sarve nirarthakāḥ ||2.5.46||
English translation
“When the primary rati in its essential form does not leave the devotee, it is considered to be the continuous or ātyantika-sthāyī-bhāva. This is present in all types of devotees. Without the continuous sthāyī-bhāva, all the other bhāvas such hāsa are dysfunctional.”
