The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.5.23; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

कृष्ण-भक्तेष्व् अनुग्राह्य-सखि-पूज्येष्व् अनुक्रमात् ।
त्रि-विधेषु त्रयी प्रीतिः सख्यं वत्सलतेत्य् असौ ॥२.५.२३॥

kṛṣṇa-bhakteṣv anugrāhya-sakhi-pūjyeṣv anukramāt |
tri-vidheṣu trayī prītiḥ sakhyaṃ vatsalatety asau
||2.5.23||

English translation

“When rati (with deep friendship and possessiveness) is found in three types of devotees—recipients of mercy, friends and elders—it becomes prīti-rati, sakhya-rati and vatsalya-rati, respectively.”
