The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.4.219; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

yathā śrī-daśame (10.23.40) —
dhig janma nas trivṛd-vidyāṃ dhig vrataṃ dhig bahujñatām |
dhik kulaṃ dhik kriyā-dīkṣāṃ vimukhā ye tv adhokṣaje ||2.4.219||
atra svatantro nirvedaḥ |

“To hell with our threefold birth, our vow of celibacy and our extensive learning! To hell with our aristocratic background and our expertise in the rituals of sacrifice! These are all condemned because we were inimical to the transcendental Personality of Godhead.”
