The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.4.213; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

अथ अवरः —
रस-द्वयस्याप्य् अङ्गत्वम् अगच्छन्न् अवरो मतः ॥२.४.२१३॥

atha avaraḥ
rasa-dvayasyāpy aṅgatvam agacchann avaro mataḥ
||2.4.213||

English translation

“When the vyābhicārī-bhāva is not a component of either a primary or secondary rasa (does not nourish the rasa) it is called an inferior dependent vyābhicārī-bhāva.
