The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.4.100; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा —
अनुल्लास-श्वासा मुहुर् असरलोत्तानित-दृशो
विवृण्वन्तः काये किम् अपि नव-वैवर्ण्यम् अभितः ।
हरेर् नामाव्यक्तीकृतम् अलघु-हिक्का-लहरीभिः
प्रजल्पन्तः प्राणान् जहति मथुरायां सुकृतिनः ॥२.४.१००॥

yathā —
anullāsa-śvāsā muhur asaralottānita-dṛśo
vivṛṇvantaḥ kāye kim api nava-vaivarṇyam abhitaḥ |
harer nāmāvyaktīkṛtam alaghu-hikkā-laharībhiḥ
prajalpantaḥ prāṇān jahati mathurāyāṃ sukṛtinaḥ
||2.4.100||

English translation

“The pious persons of Mathurā, with weak breathing, eyes glancing sideways and upwards, taking on a unique complexion in their bodies and hiccuping loudly, gave up their lives while uttering Kṛṣṇa’s name unclearly.”
