The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.4.68; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.
Verse 2.4.68
agnijo, yathā —
dhīr vyagrājani naḥ samasta-suhṛdāṃ tāṃ prāṇa-rakṣā-maṇiṃ
gavyā gauravataḥ samīkṣya niviḍe tiṣṭhantam antar-vane |
vahniḥ paśya śikhaṇḍa-śekhara kharaṃ muñcann akhaṇḍa-dhvaniṃ
dīrghābhiḥ sura-dīrghikāmbu-laharīm arcibhir ācāmati ||2.4.68||
Āvega arising from fire:
“O Kṛṣṇa with peacock feather! See the fire making a constantly ferocious sound. It is touching the Mandākinī River of Svarga with its long flames, as if sipping its waters. You are the jewel that protects the life of Your friends. Seeing You standing in the midst of the deep forest to protect the cows, our hearts have become bewildered.”
