The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.4.29; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

आधिना, यथा —
सा रसवत्य् अतिकरेण विहीना क्षीण-जीवन-तरोच्चल-हंसा ।
माधवाद्य विरहेण तवाम्बा शुष्यति स्म सरसी शुचिनेव ॥२.४.२९॥

ādhinā, yathā —
sā rasavaty atikareṇa vihīnā kṣīṇa-jīvana-taroccala-haṃsā |
mādhavādya viraheṇa tavāmbā śuṣyati sma sarasī śucineva
||2.4.29||

English translation

Fatigue due to mental anxiety:
“Because of the summer’s heat, the lake dries up and becomes devoid of lotuses and water birds. O Mādhava! In a similar way, Your mother Yaśoda, devoid of happiness, has become weakened in separation. Her soul has departed and her body is withering away.”
