The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.4.18; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

विपत्तितेः, यथा —
कथम् अनायि पुरे मयका सुतः
कथम् असौ न निगृह्य गृहे धृतः ।
अमुम् अहो बत दन्ति-विधुन्तुदो
विधुरितं विधुम् अत्र विधित्सति ॥२.४.१८॥

vipattiteḥ, yathā —
katham anāyi pure mayakā sutaḥ
katham asau na nigṛhya gṛhe dhṛtaḥ |
amum aho bata danti-vidhuntudo
vidhuritaṃ vidhum atra vidhitsati
||2.4.18||

English translation

Remorse arising from impending disaster:
“I am so unfortunate! Why did I take my son to Mathurā? Why did I not forcibly keep Him in my house? In Mathurā the elephant desires to afflict my son just as Rahu desires to afflict the moon.”
