The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.3.71; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

तत्र धूमायिताः —
अद्वितीया अमी भावा अथवा स-द्वितीयकाः ।
ईषद्-व्यक्ता अपह्नोतुं शक्या धूमायिता मताः ॥२.३.७१॥

tatra dhūmāyitāḥ —
advitīyā amī bhāvā athavā sa-dvitīyakāḥ |
īṣad-vyaktā apahnotuṃ śakyā dhūmāyitā matāḥ ||2.3.71||

English translation

Smoky sāttvika-bhāva:
“Any sāttvika-bhāva that appears alone or with others, which manifests slightly and can be hidden by the individual, is called dhūmāyita-sāttvika-bhāva.
