The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.3.36; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

भयाद्, यथा —
विश्व-रूप-धरम् अद्भुताकृतिं
प्रेक्ष्य तत्र पुरुषोत्तमं पुरः ।
अर्जुनः सपदि शुष्यद्-आननः
शिश्रिये विकट-कण्टकां तनुम् ॥२.३.३६॥

bhayād, yathā —
viśva-rūpa-dharam adbhutākṛtiṃ
prekṣya tatra puruṣottamaṃ puraḥ
|
arjunaḥ sapadi śuṣyad-ānanaḥ
śiśriye vikaṭa-kaṇṭakāṃ tanum
||2.3.36||

English translation

From fear:
“When Arjuna saw before him the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Kṛṣṇa as the astonishing Universal Form, his face dried up and the hairs of his body suddenly stood on end.”
