The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.288; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा वा —
न काचिद् अभवद् गुरोर् भजन-यन्त्रणे’भिज्ञता
न साधन-विधौ च ते श्रम-लवस्य गन्धो’प्य् अभूत् ।
गतो’सि चरितार्थतां परमहंस-मृग्य-श्रिया
मुकुन्द-पद-पद्मयोः प्रणय-सीधुनो धारया ॥२.१.२८८॥

yathā vā —
na kācid abhavad guror bhajana-yantraṇe’bhijñatā
na sādhana-vidhau ca te śrama-lavasya gandho’py abhūt |
gato’si caritārthatāṃ paramahaṃsa-mṛgya-śriyā
mukunda-pada-padmayoḥ praṇaya-sīdhuno dhārayā
||2.1.288||

English translation

Another example:
“You are not known to have suffered pains in the service of the guru, and you have trace of exerting even a drop of labor in following the rules of sādhana. But you have succeeded in attaining the river of nectar of prema coming from the two lotus feet of Mukunda, which are the wealth sought by the paramahaṃsas.”
