The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.257; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

माधुर्यम् —
तन् माधुर्यं भवेद् यत्र चेष्टादेः स्पृहणीयता ॥२.१.२५७॥

mādhuryam —
tan mādhuryaṃ bhaved yatra ceṣṭādeḥ spṛhaṇīyatā
||2.1.257||

English translation

“When there is an expression of desire through actions it is called sweetness
[mādhuryam].”
