The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.158; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

भवतः प्रताप-तपने भुवनं कृष्ण प्रतापयति ।
घोरासुर-घुकानां शरणम् अभूत् कन्दरा-तिमिरम् ॥२.१.१५७॥

yathā —
bhavataḥ pratāpa-tapane bhuvanaṃ kṛṣṇa pratāpayati |
ghorāsura-ghukānāṃ śaraṇam abhūt kandarā-timiram
||2.1.157||

“Wहेन् योउ इल्लुमिनते थे wओर्ल्द् wइथ् योउर् ब्रिल्लिअन्चे wहिछ् इस् लिके थे सुन्, थे दर्क्नेस्स् ओf थे मोउन्तैन् चवेस् बेचोमेस् थे स्हेल्तेर् fओर् थे तेर्रिब्ले देमोन्स्, wहो अरे जुस्त् लिके ओwल्स्.”

(४३) कीर्तिमान् —
साद्गुण्यैर् निर्मलैः ख्यातः कीर्तिमान् इति कीर्त्यते ॥२.१.१५८॥

“When You illuminate the world with Your brilliance which is like the sun, the darkness of the mountain caves becomes the shelter for the terrible demons, who are just like owls.”

(43) kīrtimān —
sādguṇyair nirmalaiḥ khyātaḥ kīrtimān iti kīrtyate ||2.1.158||

English translation

(43) kīrtimān: renowned —
“A person who is famous for spotless good qualities is called renowned.”
