The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 2.1.123; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

यथा वा —
रिपुर् अपि यदि शुद्धो मण्डनीयस् तवासौ
यदुवर यदि दुष्टो दण्डनीयः सुतो’पि ।
न पुनर् अखिल-भर्तुः पक्षपातोज्झितस्य
क्वचिद् अपि विषमं ते चेष्टितं जाघटीति ॥२.१.१२२॥ अनोथेर् एxअम्प्ले:

“ओ बेस्त् ओf थे यदुस्, इf योउर् एनेम्य् दोएस् सोमेथिन्ग् चोर्रेच्त्ल्य् योउ रेwअर्द् हिम्, अन्द् इf योउर् सोन् बेचोमेस् स्पोइलेद् योउ पुनिस्ह् हिम्. योउ अरे थे प्रोतेच्तोर् ओf अल्ल् पेओप्ले अन्द् wइथोउत् प्रेजुदिचे; थुस् पर्तिअलित्य् चन् नेवेर् ओच्चुर् इन् योउर् अच्तिओन्स्.”

(२९) वदान्यः —
दान-वीरो भवेद् यस् तु स वदान्यो निगद्यते ॥२.१.१२३॥

yathā vā —
ripur api yadi śuddho maṇḍanīyas tavāsau
yaduvara yadi duṣṭo daṇḍanīyaḥ suto’pi |
na punar akhila-bhartuḥ pakṣapātojjhitasya
kvacid api viṣamaṃ te ceṣṭitaṃ jāghaṭīti ||2.1.122|| Another example:

“O best of the Yadus, if Your enemy does something correctly You reward him, and if Your son becomes spoiled You punish him. You are the protector of all people and without prejudice; thus partiality can never occur in Your actions.”

(29) vadānyaḥ —
dāna-vīro bhaved yas tu sa vadānyo nigadyate ||2.1.123||

English translation

(29) vadānyaḥ: generous —
“The person who is very charitable is called generous.”
